May in Waimea
by Bill Jardine May 02, 2007
May brings flowers … plain and simple. Just the thought of the hedges, trees and bushes in bloom is enough to set the tone for the whole month. Then, just as you get near the end of the month school let’s out and everyone goes on vacation. Wow! It is pretty hard to think of anything negative about May. I loved the Rogers and Hammerstein line about the “merry month of May” in their musical, Camelot. They called it the month of “Yes you may!”
Waimea is just as picture perfect as you can imagine as May comes in the front gate April slips through the back, dragging her sprinkler with her. The Jacaranda flowers are scattered over the lawns and on the dark asphalt paving all over town. Puuanahulu is strutting around in vivid oranges and purples as the Silver Oak, Pride of India and Jacaranda trees all compete for your attention. Great time to take pictures!
Our real estate markets are sweet as can be as well. We are seeing a steady stream of akamai buyers taking advantage of this historical buying opportunity. Think about it … we have soft prices, low interest rates and are just a year or two from the Baby Boomers big push for retirement properties. I really don’t think it can get any better than it is right now.
We are considering a re-branding of our agency and wonder if any of you might want to comment. We have registered the name Big Island Buyers Brokers, since more and more people are getting turned on to the idea of having their own agent to filter the sales efforts of the listing agents. Right now a listing agent can’t tell you how much flexibility a Seller may have, but a Buyers agent is going to find out right away.
We are blessed to have our eldest, Jaisy, running special events and weddings at the Fairmont Orchid at Mauna Lani. Next time you want an event or wedding done as it should be, please give her a try. You will be every bit as impressed as we are!
